To Image or Not to Image: That is the Question

Some banks optimistically assumed that their Check 21 projects could be completed within a year or two of implementation. Overall, the industry has underestimated the complexity and cost of converting back-office operations from paper to electronic environment. To complicate matters, the volume of paper continues to grow, forcing financial managers to deal with information overload in both digital and hardcopy format. Departments continue to generate more paper, including copies of e-mails, memos, and reports. The irony is that much of that paper is already stored in electronic format.
