Les E. Riedl
Les Riedl is Chief Executive Officer of Speer and Associates, Inc. (S&A) with responsibility for the performance of consulting engagements in areas of consumer payments products and systems, marketing, and retail delivery. His areas of expertise include designing and implementing strategies for debit and credit card issuing, EFT network, transaction acquiring and processing businesses. He has assisted clients including major international, money center and regional banks, transaction processing companies, credit card associations, venture capital firms, and other companies in the electronic payments industry.
Mr. Riedl brings considerable experience and knowledge to S&A clients based on a broad range of engagements. His recent projects include supporting clients in the development of domestic and international growth strategies, business evaluation and planning, product development, vendor selection and joint venture, merger and acquisition initiatives.
Prior to joining S&A, Mr. Riedl was Senior Vice President of a leading integrated transaction processing company where he was responsible for product development, marketing, project services, and client implementations. During his tenure, Mr. Riedl developed new products for the merchant acquiring, EFT, ATM, payment cards and transaction processing markets.
Previously, Mr. Riedl was Senior Vice President of a major regional financial services institution for ten years, with responsibility for retail strategic planning, retail delivery, card products, database marketing and marketing research. He also managed the bank’s ATM and debit card businesses. In this role, he developed strategies for retail business lines, including a comprehensive retail distribution and payments plan. He also pioneered concepts for several new electronic payment products and self-service banking.
Mr. Riedl received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Cleveland State University. He has been active in the industry, serving on a number of advisory boards and councils for the Smart Card Forum, MAC Network, Visa, and Intuit. He has published several articles on card payments, merchant acquiring, transaction processing and retail delivery issues. He frequently attends and speaks at industry conferences, and is often quoted in key industry publications.
